MAY: ON STOLEN TIME

Well, I hope you might have read my story "On Stolen Time", otherwise this scene will make very little sense to you, and won't be easy to explain! The Beagle Boys steal a new invention from Gyro Gearloose - a stopwatch that will suspend time when the stem is pushed. When time is frozen, they can raid $crooge's Money Bin without fear of capture, then turn time back on when they are far away from the crime scene and safely back in their hide-out. Here we see the Beagles escaping from Donald and the Nephews (who managed to get themselves included outside of the time freeze) by climbing up a flock of pigeons frozen in mid-air! Meanwhile Donald is colliding with a butterfly that is time-frozen as solid as a concrete piling, and Huey is leaning on a time-frozen popcorn kernel. Readers did not need to ask me how the characters could move around or even breathe when the air was also frozen around them. There was no reason to ask me because I don't know the answer! Looking back, it might have been better (and just slightly less preposterous) if I'd said that the stopwatch only suspended motion in the immediate area. That's far less problematic than saying it froze time throughout the universe! But another question people are recently asking me is whether I plan to hire lawyers (perhaps Sharky from the April pin-up) to investigate whether the writers of the new hit movie CLOCKSTOPPERS stole this idea from me. That film is also about a pocket watch that slows time down and enables the user to move about and create mischief. Well, I can't afford the lawyers it would take to sue a Hollywood movie studio, so I guess that's a mystery I'll never know the answer to.

(D.U.C.K. spoiler: One mystery that I can tell you the answer to is the location of the dedication. but you've probably already spotted it, eh? It's placed rather awkwardly (hardly "hidden") forming the wing of a pigeon. the one that the Nephew above Donald seems to be reaching for.)
