Don Rosa's comments: JULY: TREASURE UNDER GLASS Jeez. some of these pin-ups don't make much sense unless you have read the stories they were meant to accompany in their original printings. This is a scene from one of the first Duck adventures I did for Europe in which our heroes have the problem of salvaging a wooden treasure map on a sunken Spanish galleon. but the wooden chart is too rotten to move and too dangerous to approach in the shark-infested waters. The solution, financed by $crooge's millions, is to place a huge glass dome over the sunken wreck and pump out the water, making it possible to search the ship in open air! Here you can see the bottom lip of the glass dome as the Ducks swim through a gap between coral heads. Note the reflection Donald is casting in the glass as he is menaced by sharks. There's the galleon in the background, high and dry, even though it's still far below the surface of the ocean. Behind the galleon you can see the ropes holding the glass dome to the ocean floor and sharks and other fish swimming in the sea beyond it. You can even see the hull of $crooge's schooner as it floats above the scene. (D.U.C.K. spoiler: the dedication is written in the leaves down the right side of the tallest stem of the seaweed cluster in the lower left corner. But there's another hidden goodie to find in the scene! I won't tell you exactly what or where it is, but just look around for a familiar head formed in some bubbles.)
