Arpine Lusene
Today it is 10 years ago since Swedish Kalle Anka readers, as the first readers in the world, were introduced to a totally new villain in the Duckburg-universe, as the French bon-vivant Arpine Lusene a.k.a. the master thief The Black Knight, was introduced in Don Rosas The Black Knight story. Lusene has later also appeared in Attaaaaaack! (2000) and The Black Knight GLORPS! Again (2004). Don Rosa created his new villain to fit in in a rewritten version of one of his old, but yet unfinished, chapters of his "The Pertwillaby Papers" saga, called Knighttime (1979+2001).

Don Rosa's close friend Dan Shane says on DCML that yesterday Don Rosa had a follow-up visit to the eye-doctor to check the progress of his recent surgery. It was discovered that his "good" eye was developing some rips (tears) that foretold the same retinal detachment he experienced in his left eye, so he again had an immediate operation - this time laser surgery to mend the rips (tears). His doctor fear that the retina in his right eye might also detach before his left eye has healed, rendering him blind in both eyes for months.

Gemstone intends to publish a complete Don Rosa Library (DRL) hardcover book series - seemingly in a style close to Egmont's "Walt Disney's Hall of Fame" book series. At Amazon December 24th 2008 is announced as the date for the publication of volume I of this new series. The announced price is $39.99. In DCF (The Disney Comics Forum) Gemstones David Gerstein says this about Gemstone's upcoming projects: "I can't give many details about these projects yet, other than to confirm that for right now they're in the works. Plans have been known to change, though. Lars is correct: Amazon's listings often reflect projects (from all publishers) that may not ultimately come out as originally expected. But at least you can see what we presently *want* to do.

The cover pictures at this point, by the way, are just quick "Americanizations" of similar volumes already published by Egmont. Our final editions may look very different (and may not be identical to Egmont's equivalents inside, either)
".
