The first time I met Don Rosa live was when he visited the comics store Tronsmo in Oslo, on Saturday March 24th 2001 in order to introduce "The Don Rosa Archives" - a collection of the two books featuring his pre-Disney works; "The Perwillaby Papers" and "The adventures of Captain Kentucky". The event took place from 12:00 until 16:00. I came to the store around 11:45 together with an uncle and an aunt of mine - luckily my uncle brought his camera with him (and less luckily he forgot the flash). A few moments past 12:00 Don Rosa came up from the basement...

After standing 30 minutes or so in the queue, I finally reached the table where Don Rosa was signing the books and anything of his works that the fans brought before him. Even before it was my turn to have books signed, I could see that Don Rosa was in a good shape that day. He came up with nice comments, and smiled whenever anyone wanted to have a photo or two.

I found the books: "The Don Rosa Archives, part I - The Pertwillaby Papers", "The Don Rosa Archives, part II - The adventures of Captain Kentucky" and "Skrue McDucks liv og levnet" (The Norwegian version of Lo$) - in large staples on the table where Don Rosa was signing. The book "Skrue McDucks liv og levnet" had off course been a part of my collection since it was published in November 1997 (I actually bought it in Oslo the day before Don Rosa came to sign them it 1997), but there was no signature in my old copy. The old copy has later been used in a trade with a Dutch collector.

In addition to these books it was also possible to buy a nice poster (A3-size) showing both Lance Pertwillaby and Captain Kentucky - published in 150 numbered and signed copies. The note said: "Ltd. Ed. 2 * signed books + signed poster, printed in 150 copies - NOK 800.-". Off course I also bought one of those posters. The poster and both books are published by the Norwegian publisher Gazette Bok, which is located in Oslo.

On my way to pay for the poster and the books I was also introduced to professor Nils Lid Hjort, the editor of "The Don Rosa Archives I & II" and also the translator of the Don Rosa story "The Quest for Kalevala". We briefly discussed the still ongoing work with a new printed Norwegian Don Rosa Index.
