Scrooge and his sisters arrive Duckburg where they meet the Duck-family (Grandma Duck, her husband Humperdink Duck and their children Quackmore, Daphne and Eider Duck). In fort Duckburg at the top of Kill Mule Hill they meet the first Junior Woodchucks - among them Fulton Gearloose (Gyro's father). The Junior Woodchucks have to flee their first headquarters but make contact with the president Theodore Roosevelt who goes to Duckburg in front of his Rough Riders in order to support the Junior Woodchucks. At the same time The Beagle Boys, who has by then also moved to Duckburg, try to steal Scrooge's fortune. The battle ends when Hortense McDuck scares the Rough Riders to flee, while Scrooge and president Roosevelt meet face to face. During the following six months the rest of old Fort Duckburg is teared down, and the Money Bin is buildt in its place.

Don Rosa's own comments about this story can be read at Dan Shane's great The Life and Times of $crooge McDuck pages.
