Interesting facts:

|
Don Rosa says: "This is a story I had in my head ever since 1959 when I first saw "Journey to the Center of the Earth". I've done versions of this adventure with my own characters as long ago as 1960 (with worldwide distribution being somewhat less than I enjoy currently -- in those days it was distributed throughout my bedroom with a total readership of one."

This story is actually based on an old Pertwillaby Papers story called "Vortex".

Go to AC Sivebæk's The two worlds of Don Rosa to see the difference between the two versions of this story.
