During a trip to Punjab, India Scrooge and his nephews make a discovery which leads them to the long lost city of Shambala. There they both find remnants after the army of Alexander the great and 10 avatars which show to be the key to a large treasure. But they are not alone - the evil maharajah of Punjab has secretly been following the expedition...

Interesting facts:

|
By the time this story was done Don Rosa normally worked under a 24 page limit so initially he was thinking about doing a story about only some of the avatars. However Egmont was kind and allowed him to use 4 extra pages for this particular story so that all the 10 avatars could be involved.

This story wasn't published in Sweden until 3 years after it was published in Norway and Denmark because extra magazines for some reason are very seldom enclosed with KA&Co.
