Viste rundt was established during the spring of 2001 as number 25 of many permanent walks in Norway. A complete list over these walks is found at NFFs WEB-pages.

The official starting point is at Vistnestunet (Vistnesveien 154). There are well visible road signs from the centre of Randaberg. Vistnestunet is a preserved farm from approx. 1875. There is people in the farm from 08:00 (8 a.m.) until 20:00 (8 p.m.), but the route is open all 24 hours.

The Starting cards is found in a box next to the entrance to the farm's main building, and is also available on most IVV-walks in the district by taking contact with Harry Rasmussen. The staff at Vistnestunet will also be helpful if you have any questions according to starting cards, payment, IVV-stamps and awards. You have to suit yourself when the farm is unmanned.

The length of the route is 10km. The kilometres are registered for maximum one round (10km) each day, and the participation is registered maximum once in six months (new stamp from January 1st and July 1st). The walk may be started anywhere along the route, and the walker is personally responsible for recording the correct date and hour at the start of the walk.

The codes are changed all the time. It's thus very important the correct code is registered in the correct rubric - so that the number at the control-points and the number at the rubrics always are the same no matter what direction one choose to walk.

Those unfamiliar with the route are recommended to start the walk at Vistnestunet. The control-points will then appear in an increasing order. Yellow markings are used to indicate the route. Follow the path towards the sea (Please remember to be careful with the animals). Turn left and follow the coastline towards Viste Strandhotell. Go at the seaside of the two boathouses that are built on a fundament of natural stones, and continue on the seaside of the following acre. When approaching the hotel you will find Control-point 1 in the farthermost corner of the part of the wooden fence (around the ballgame-bin next to the parking place) that is closest to the hotel.

Follow the road towards the centre of Randaberg for about 100 meters until you reach the crossroad Visteveien/Goaveien. Turn left into Goaveien and follow this road. Control-point 2 is placed on the back of the large sign at huge cave called Svarthola (Vistehola) - which is located at the right side of the road.

Continue to follow Goaveien to the first crossroad. Turn left in the crossroad and follow the road to he right shortly after - towards Raustein (this is the same route as the Nordsjų-road which is followed for approx. 400 meters). Take slightly to right towards the farm from the point where Rausteinveien turns right. Continue straight forward at the right side of the houses and follow the path that leads to Vistnesveien. Take to left along Vistnesveien and follow this road for approx. 50 meters. Turn right into the narrow road next to a buss-stop. Follow the narrow road and cross Visnesveien. Continue on the path towards the sea. Take to right and follow the sealine. Control-point 3 is placed on a sign next to Grøderøysa (an old huge pile of stones supposed to hide an ancient grave chamber).



Turn around and follow the coastline towards the light tower at Vistnestangen. Climb down the stairs next to the light tower and follow the path at the backside of the boathouses. Control-point 4 is placed on the wall on the backside of the first boathouse after the light tower.

Follow the road through the summer house area and turn right at the backside of the last houses. Follow the path through the forest. At this point the route is particularly well marked with yellow spots. Follow the path and pass the wooden building which is used for barbecuing, etc. Turn left towards Vistnestunet (Please remember to be careful towards the animals).

Starting fee: IVV-stempling; NOK 15,- each round.

Award: The are pins for sale for NOK 25,-. IVV stamp + pins thus cost NOK 40,-
